Mobile & App Usage

What links work on my mobile phone?

The Speaker and View-only links will only work in the KUDO Live app. Once the app is installed, you can paste the Speaker link, Viewer-only link, or QR/Mobile link into the app to join the session.

Download the KUDO Live app from the KUDO Live App Download Center.

Tip: Use your phone’s standard camera app to scan QR codes rather than a third-party QR reader app.

Troubleshooting

Why do some users lose audio or get disconnected when their phone locks or enters screen saver mode?

In most cases, audio should continue playing when your phone locks. KUDO has implemented functionality that allows media playback to continue in the browser even when the device locks or enters screen saver mode.

However, KUDO WebLink runs in a web browser, and browser behavior is controlled by your device’s operating system. In some cases, aggressive power-management settings may cause the system to suspend background browser activity, which can disconnect the session or stop audio. This is not default mobile behavior. It is usually caused by user-modified battery or power-saving settings, which explains why only some users are affected.

Recommended Fixes:

  • Disable aggressive battery optimization for your browser before joining
  • Keep the browser active when possible
  • Ensure your device is adequately charged

What should I do if there is a lag of over 30 seconds?

A lag of up to 12 seconds can be expected for less common languages, but 30 seconds or more is unusual. If this occurs, save the original recorded meeting and note the support meeting ID so the issue can be investigated.

Why did I scan the QR code but get redirected to the KUDO website instead of the meeting?

All official QR codes are configured to redirect directly to a specific session. A common cause of this issue is clicking the “Visit KUDO” hyperlink at the bottom of the page instead of selecting a language and joining. If the issue persists, gather screenshots and note the exact steps taken so the problem can be investigated.

Why does the “Join” button overlap with footer links on my device?

This layout issue has two primary causes:

  • Browser zoom is enabled: If the page is zoomed in, elements may overlap
  • Browser-based translation tools are active (e.g., Google Translate): These tools modify page content without triggering a responsive layout update

Recommended Fixes:

  • Reset browser zoom to 100%
  • Disable browser-based translation tools
  • Refresh the page after making adjustments

The KUDO join screen with the browser's Google Translate on, so the welcome text renders duplicated and overlapping

Meeting Setup & Billing

If we select a preparation time of 15 minutes for our 3:00 PM meeting, does that mean anyone can connect at 2:45 PM?

Preparation time is intended for the operator to run audio checks and ensure everything is properly set up. Attendees should join at the official meeting start time, not during the prep window.

Does preparation time count against our minutes used?

Yes. Preparation time is considered billable platform time. For example, if a meeting runs for 1 hour with 15 minutes of prep beforehand, the total billed time is 75 minutes.

Recording & Transcripts

If we set our meeting to automatically record, does the recording start at the meeting start time or as soon as someone connects?

Meetings set to auto-record will begin recording as soon as someone joins, including the operator during prep time. If the meeting was not set to auto-record, the operator may choose to manually start recording when the meeting begins.

How do we retrieve the recording after the meeting?

Recording files are in audio-video (MP4) format. You can retrieve one MP4 file per language. Recordings and transcripts are stored in the KUDO cloud for 30 days before being automatically deleted. You can download them at any time during this period.

Language Options

What are the limitations of languages such as Myanmar (Burmese) and Khmer?

Both languages are available in speech-to-speech and speech-to-text modalities, with the following differences:

Speech-to-speech: Myanmar (Burmese) and Khmer cannot be set as speaker languages but can be selected as output languages. This allows speakers of Myanmar or Khmer to understand messages delivered in any of the available speaker languages

One-way communication selected under Translation type, with English speaking into English (US), Khmer and Myanmar (Burmese)

Speech-to-text: These languages can be selected as both input (entry) languages and output languages

Interactive communication selected under Translation type, with English (US), Khmer and Myanmar (Burmese) on both sides

What if the language I need is not on the supported language list?

Contact your Argo Translation representative to see if the language is currently in production, on the roadmap, or available through an alternative solution. For some less common languages, human interpretation can be scheduled via the KUDO Marketplace using Interpretation Credits ($300 per language):

  • Up to 1-hour meeting: 1 Interpretation Credit
  • Up to 2-hour meeting: 3 Interpretation Credits
  • Up to 3-hour meeting: 4 Interpretation Credits
