Introduction
This guide provides instructions for reviewers performing a program check on a translated survey. Your task is to verify that the translations display correctly in the survey platform and that the survey logic and links function as intended. The translations have already been approved by the client and should only be edited if absolutely necessary.
Checklist Before Starting
Before starting the program check, ensure you have access to the following:
- The survey link (provided by the PM)
- Translated overlay file (Excel format)
- Program check report template (Excel format)
- Pre-programmed survey document with highlighted instructions (Word file)
Program Check Steps
1. Launch the Survey
Open the survey using the provided link. A unique ID will be automatically appended to the URL once you access the survey. Copy and retain this full URL as it will be required when reporting any issues.
2. Navigate Through the Survey
Use the pre-programmed survey file to guide your navigation. Follow the instructions carefully, particularly avoiding any responses labeled as [TERMINATED] to ensure you reach the main questionnaire. Refer to the path logic and termination rules to complete at least two test passes through different paths.

3. Review the Translations
The program check is the final linguistic step before a questionnaire is launched. You only need to check that the translation displays properly. It is important that you are no longer editing the translation as it has been approved by the client at this point. Please only make edits that are strictly necessary. If changes are needed:
- Edit directly in Column C of the overlay Excel file
- Highlight the modified cell

4. Record Uneditable Issues
If there are issues you cannot correct in the overlay file, document them in the program check report file. Include a clear reference to the question and the URL. If helpful, you can add screenshots too; please clearly indicate which question corresponds to each screenshot in the program check report.

5. Handling Errors
If you encounter an error screen during testing:
- Take a screenshot of the error
- Note which question it occurred on
- Send the screenshot, revised overlay, and program check report to the PM
- Wait for confirmation before continuing the check
Final Notes
Do not interpret reaching an error screen as successful completion. Program check must be completed without triggering any error screens. Maintain communication with the PM and always include your full survey URL in any correspondence.
